The movie “Star Trek Beyond” has what I believe to be an Easter Egg reference as an homage.
The movie references a frequency (57.7 MHz) that may attract the attention of amateur radio operators. The frequency helps Kirk to succeed. That frequency is near the 6M band of 50 MHz that HAM’s use.
A look up on the FCC spectrum chart reveals where this frequency lies….
It’s inside the analog TV spectrum that Star Trek was broadcast upon in the original series.
Today, this spectrum has been auctioned off by the FCC since analog TV transmissions ended after HDTV was introduced.
